teaser trailer
This Teaser is longer than the average teaser trailer, but it does contain most of the key conventions of a horror movie. At first the genre is distinguished as being an action as there ia a lot of low key blue/grey lighting, fast beat music and cars chasing a man. This misleads the audience which can make them unprepared for the rest of the content. It then transforms into a horror teaser through the change of music as it becomes slower and more misticle and child like, which gives a haunted impression. The setting becomes a isolated and distorted place, it's hard to make out where they are located and the audience is introduced to the 'monster' character. Which is a must in a horror. Like a trailer there is a date of the film release '4/30/2010' the producers name'Micheal Bay' and intertitles that break up sentences so the audience feel obliged to keep watching. However character names are not used mainly because no famous characters are present within the film. Interrestingly the name of the film doesn't appear until the end of the teaser, this will help keep the suspense up through out the clip. The main features of this being a teaser rather than a trailer is the length, the action shots and close up reaction shots and the random shots of the characters in unusual situations but doesn't ell you what is going on. All these build up suspense, keep the audience wanting to know more and doesn't give the movie away before the trailer comes out. I think this teaser shows these concepts of a horror very well.
